WordPress is a popular Content Management System (CMS). About thirty percent (30%) of the world’s websites are run on WordPress. In this post, I will show you how to do WordPress Installation using Softaculous in the cPanel.
Prerequisites For Your WordPress Installation:
Before you install WordPress, make sure
- You have your registered domain name
- Your web hosting account supports cPanel, PHP and SQL
- You are pointing the Nameservers with your domain registrar to the server on which you are making the installation
1. Log in to your cPanel
To access your cPanel, type your domain name followed by cPanel port number. It will be in this format: yourwebsitename.com:2082 or yourwebsitename.com:2083(for SSL). Afterwards, enter the username and password you received from your web hosting provider.
2. Go to Softaculous App Installer Section
Once you are in your cPanel dashboard, go to the Softaculous App Installer section. You can search for “softaculous” by typing it in the search bar of the cPanel dashboard. You will find apps in that section including WordPress. Click on WordPress.
You will be taken to the WordPress page. Click on the Install Tab.
3. Fill in WordPress Installation Details
On the next page, you will see the WordPress Installation Details
Fill them out this way:
Choose Protocol: Type in “http://”
Choose Domain: Type in your domain name e.g. “yourwebsite.com”
In the Directory: Leave this place blank
Site Name: Enter the name of your Website e.g. Digital ON Solutions
Site Description: Enter how you want your website to be known by or your slogan e.g. “WordPress and Beyond”

Select Language: Choose “English”
You can skip choosing a Theme or plugin at this point.
When you finish filling in the details, click “Install”
WordPress will begin installation. You will see a screen like below.
When the installation is complete, you will see a message like this:
WordPress has been successfully installed at:
Administrative URL : http://www.yourwebsite.com/wp-admin/
Try visiting the two links and see how they look like.
The first link will show how your website will look like to the public. The Administrative URL link will take you to the WordPress login page. Log in with the details you filled in during step 3. You will then be taken to the WordPress dashboard where you will work from.
